Paper Design: Garden Party Editorial

It was such a joy to see our Garden Party editorial featured in the first print edition of Utterly Engaged! The picturesque location, Gardens of Bella Vita, impeccable styling of Joy Proctor Design, gorgeous florals by Kelly Kaufman, and swoon worthy photography by Jose Villa brought this garden dream to reality. It was a privilege to work with this team and put together corresponding watercolored and hand calligraphed paper goods!

As seen in print... thanks again, Utterly Engaged!

Introducing a new hand-calligraphed font: Feast!

This week was such a momentous one, with the release of our new hand-calligraphed font, appropriately named "Feast"!

A brief history on this new endeavor and the release of "Feast":

It was last year that lettering artist Molly Jacques reached out to inquire about font development. Molly has been prolific in the creation of several very popular hand-calligraphed and hand-lettered fonts over the past couple of years. It was such an honor to join her and Dathan Boardman in this pursuit, and be welcomed as a designer in their font foundry, Great Lakes Lettering.

While font development was a unknown experience at that time, it was one that I was so eager to venture into. I was so excited to have the opportunity to make this replica of my signature calligraphy style available to the world, especially for use on every day and less than completely hand-crafted, custom projects.

Myself, as well as the whole GLL team looks forward to seeing how this font will be used. Don't forget to hashtag #gllfonts when you use and post photos of creative work involving "Feast"! We can't wait to see what you will create!

You can purchase Feast before it goes live anywhere else HERE on Molly's website!

Paper Details: Elegant summer wedding in the south of France

Truly, there are not many words to express this kind of beauty...

From One and Only Paris Photography… Provence is a magical part of France with stunning landscapes and amazing light. It is the perfect backdrop for a wedding. Christina and Paul came all the way from the US to get married here surrounded by friends and family. Music was a huge part of their day and everybody partied late into the night under the stars.

Christina is half American, half French and Paul is Canadian. They both love art and it is thus quite naturally that they decided to seal their union in Aix en Provence, the city of the talented Paul Cézanne. The day before, a rehearsal dinner was held at an amazing venue dedicated to painting. It was as beautiful as the wedding.

Each detail of this wedding was important; from the Provencal cooking to the decoration. Christina knew exactly what style she wanted for her wedding decoration. She wanted something elegant with a touch of Provence. As color scheme, she chose coral to match her Valentino shoes and bridesmaids dresses.

The ceremony was held in front of the ancient church of the chateau. The cocktail took place poolside amidst the ancient stone ruins. Following the cocktail hour, guests made their way into the marquee for dinner, collecting their escort card from drawers filled of dry lavender.

This romantic wedding in France was a soft day under the warm light of Provence. A lot of this wedding was about sharing Provence lifestyle with their friends and family coming from all around the world.

What a true privilege to be a part of this wedding and to see my work so gloriously documented. See the full gallery from One and Only Paris Photography and Le Secret de Audrey on Style Me Pretty here!

Paper Details: Gorgeous New England Wedding in late September

Happy Friday! I am so pleased to blog these gorgeous photos from Jose Villa, capturing the beauty of an elegant New England wedding this past September. Bess was such a thoughtful, detail-considerate bride and such a joy to work with. And these colors!

One of my favorite details are the hand-painted mosaic tiles that served as escort cards for each guest. What a unique touch, and such a memorable takeaway. Enjoy!

Paper details: Late Summer Wedding in Carmel, California

It's about time this beauty was blogged! Take a look at some detail shots below of one of my favorite weddings to date, which took place in Carmel, California last fall. It was such a privilege to work alongside the inspiring Kate Holt of Flowerwild, who's work in floral design and styling made this wedding all that it was. In addition, it was such a joy to all of the details so impeccably captured by Jose Villa. Enjoy!

See the full wedding featured on Style Me Pretty this past February, including the work of many talented vendors. One of my favorites is Julie Dewalt of Gather & Co, sister in law of the bride, who put together the gorgeous programs and rehearsal dinner invitations.

This hand-lettered design was painted with gouache paint and a thin brush, and printed to be a reminder of love and truth. It was inspired by the compelling words of Song of Songs 8:7, which read:

In addition, this greeting card features the words "I adore you", painted with watercolor and a thin brush. The perfect sentiment for someone who means the world to you! Card is A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2" when folded) and features a blank interior. It is printed on 110 lb. soft white wove paper and comes paired with a delicate rose colored envelope.

Flowerwild Mayacamas Workshop with lunar inspired paper goods

Gorgeous Photos by Jose Villa featured on Style Me Pretty of Kate Holt's Flowerwild floral styling workshop earlier this year at Mayacamas Ranch, California.

The invitation suite I designed was inspired by the stylist's desire for a "lunar" theme, with which I took and ran with! I worked with watercolor paper and a combination of paintbrush and nib to create a design that reflected lunar surfaces, with details including moon phases and of course lettering with a ethereal vibe.

The hand-painted art piece on a rough, handmade piece of paper, featuring a song by George Harrison and Bob Dylan, would make a beautiful keepsake for a bride and groom.

Photography by Jose Villa, Model's Hair and Makeup by Team Hair and Makeup, Florals by Kate Holt of Flowerwild and a variety of other floral stylists in attendance.

Cyber Monday Free Desktop Image!

Happy December from Feast Fine Art & Calligraphy! In the midst of the busyness of the holiday season, I hope that this free desktop image will bring beauty to your workspace and serve as a reminder in your every day. A simple, black and white hand-lettered image, with slightly irregular lines and letters moving at their own pace. To remind you of a few things:

The peace found in choosing simplicity, enjoying the gifts that already surround us.

The peace found in choosing contentment, giving grace to ourselves and grace to others.

The peace that can be found in the quiet winter season, a natural point in the year to rest, reflect, and store up for the year ahead.

Logo Design: The Great Romance Photography

What a delight it was to work with Charles and Connie Lyu, a husband a wife photography team, to create a new logo for their new business!

The Great Romance was born of husband and wife Tommy & Connie's passion for witnessing sincere, timeless, and intimate love between people. They are fine art wedding, portrait, and lifestyle film photographers with a love for natural light, life, and the uniqueness of individuals. They are deeply devoted to story telling and are so blessed to be able to enter people's lives & love stories to document and share in the little things that make each person and relationship special and distinct.

In everyday life, Tommy & Connie are soul mates and best friends who love even the ordinary moments together! Everything they have in life and every opportunity they get they attribute to God & in everything they do, they hope to glorify Him & show the beauty in everything He has created.

They are located in lovely Central California but love any excuse to travel to new places to photograph all that inspires and moves the heart & soul.

Their work has been featured in such publications as: Martha Stewart Weddings, Style Me Pretty, 100LayerCake, Brooklyn Bride, Utterly Engaged, Intimate Weddings, Elizabeth Anne Designs, etc.

The beauty of their new site gives me chills! Take a look here.

Paper Details: Fall Inspired Wedding Shoot at Pippin Hill Farm

This spring I was honored to be a part of a fall inspired wedding photo shoot designed for The Knot national magazine!

Easton Events produced the shoot, drawing inspiration from a muted fall palette with pops of pomegranate. The table was wrapped in hand-dyed muslin to create a lush and romantic table setting. Pippin Hill, named Top 50 Wedding Venue by Brides Magazine, was chosen for its design, natural beauty and spectacular views. It is the perfect location for a destination wedding. The gorgeous paper design including tea-stained paper and letterpressed calligraphy was designed and printed by Rock Paper Scissors, and was documented impeccably by photographer Jen Fariello

Thanks to all who celebrated this shoot's recent feature in the Spring 2013 edition of The Knot Weddings- it was truly a privilege!

Letters for Love Greeting Card Line

What a fun project in collaboration with Figure 2 Design Studio, Feast Fine Art & Calligraphy, and calligraphers Lindsay Letters and Meant to Be Calligraphy!

Claudia of Figure 2 had the wonderful idea of bringing calligraphers together to donate their work and produce a collaborative line of cards. A portion of each card purchased will be donated to charity, including Oklahoma Tornado Relief.

How perfect is the "All you needs is love" card for a wedding congratulations?! It was the top seller for Figure 2 Design at the National Stationary Show in New York this past month!

These cards, including work by Feast, Lindsay Letters and Meant to Be Calligraphy, are available for purchase all through the SHOP at FIgure 2 Design Studio.

Feast featured on Style Me Pretty

Hey friends! Check out this beautiful post featuring Feast calligraphy on SMP Massachusetts late last week!

Stunning tablescape! I love the mismatched chairs and lovely haphazard quality of all of this.

Menu design- I love when I'm asked to write 'feast'!

Loved working with Samantha Finigan & Whitney Swaffield over at Gus & Ruby Letterpress several months back. I sent over some custom calligraphy to marry (see what I did there?) with their beautiful, custom letter-pressed paper designs. Samantha & Whitney styled this shoot to the nines. I keep thinking- "haphazard elegance." Gorgeous color combinations. What can these girls not do?

Beautiful floral design by Petal Floral Design, and captured by Emilie Inc. Photography.  See the full post with lots of other beautiful wedding details with the rest of the fabulous vendors involved here.

Thank you, Style Me Pretty!
